Google Chrome announced. Another browser choice
Submitted by albert on Mon, 2008-09-01 22:36Google Chrome Comic is really a comic strip about the new browser call Chrome.
For now http://www.google.com/chrome is the supposed home for this site. It gives a file not found. So, they still have more releasing to do!
Based on webkit as well as other open source projects. At the end of the comic Google seems to be taking a jab at Microsoft. They certainly could have created a closed and proprietary new browser. While never mentioning Microsoft by name, what other browser is proprietary? None that I can think off.
If they can make money off of open source projects, Microsoft should find out how. Also, they should port Developers Studio over to the Mac.
Chrome will be coming soon!

XCode and Version Control Folder
Submitted by albert on Thu, 2008-07-17 10:05If you do this:
defaults write com.apple.InterfaceBuilder \
VersionControlDirectory "(Build, CVS, .svn)"
it will let XCode know to ignore these folders from a SCM perspective.
Use Webmin to manage your computer or server
Submitted by albert on Mon, 2008-07-14 19:48I have used Webmin before as a better replacement to cPanel and the other web hosting control panels. Not just that it is free, but it's ease of use.
So I decided to install it on my mini-mac today. I have learned so much about my own system in 20 minutes! More than in the last 8 months I have owned the mini.
I would strongly recommend this administration front end to any one who has a computer. It works on almost all of them it seems. Requires only perl be installed.
TFS-Cost Benefit Analysis
Submitted by albert on Tue, 2008-06-10 01:09http://www.hanselman.com/blog/VisualStudioTeamSystemAndPricingMyBriefHis...
Discusses the cost not just in dollars but in terms of team pain. Most places do have less than perfect processes for developing and testing code. Does that mean TFS is the only game in town?
Nothing wrong with using Bugzilla or Mantis for Project Management. Even Jira is cheaper.
Also, CVS and Sub version are not perfect but tested in house.
Now I am up at 2 AM looking at posts about TFS costing $1,500 per seat some how.

Mac OS X Lepoard Server had some issues
Submitted by albert on Sun, 2008-06-08 15:19http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1477930&tstart=0
According to this link, Mac OS X Server 10.5.x is junk. 10.4.x seems "Rock Solid". Personally, I am not entirely sure what the server software gets you.
